Where it all began. Guest Blog from Big Blondie fan and lover of the punk new, wave Genre Mr Andrew Johns

Where it all began For me

It was around January 1979 I bought my first 7″ vinyl record after watching Top of the Pops.  The song was Heart of Glass and my long journey with Blondie began.  I then brought Parallel Lines which spawned so many great songs and then in slow time acquired the first two albums.

Since then I have continued my love of this great band and have even managed to see them twice.  The first time wasn’t until November 1999 at St Austell Coliseum when they were supported by Squeeze (minus Jules Holland).  The second time was at Eden during the Pollinator tour when it was great to hear newer material.
So it was great when I found our own Blondie tribute band on our doorstep!  I’ve managed to catch them at Bunters, Old Ale House, Fistral Beech Bar, and the Red Lion (Newquay) and they are a great bunch of musicians who sound very close to the original band.  I’ve just got to persuade them to fit X Offender into their hit-packed set now or am I just Dreaming 😉
See you soon, Andy
